Taran

Taranjeet Singh, B.A., Hon BSc. PT - Physiotherapist

Taran is a Physiotherapist, registered with the college of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy in 2000 from the University of Manchester. She has gained valuable experience in rehabilitation by working in several areas such as private clinics, retirement residences as well as hospital settings. Taran has completed numerous post graduate courses with an emphasis on orthopedics and manual therapy. Her current interests include the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative rehabilitation as well as neurological conditions.

Taran’s philosophy includes empowering clients with the knowledge she has gained as a clinician to treat and prevent reoccurrences of injury. She feels this begins with a comprehensive assessment coupled with manual therapy, pain relieveing modalities and an individualized program of care in order to maximize the benefits of Physiotherapy.

Jill

Jill Mueller, BHScPT, BKin - Physiotherapist

Jill graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Degree in kinesiology, and summa cum laude in 2001, with a degree in physiotherapy.

Jill has worked various contract jobs across Canada in both a hospital and clinical setting before joining the Healthy Balance team in 2009. To expand her interest in orthopaedics, she has taken courses in myofascial and Active Release Techniques ¨, acupuncture, and has successfully completed her Intermediate Certificate of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (Part A) through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

Jill enjoys sharing her orthopaedic knowledge by teaching for the physiotherapy department at McMaster University. She has a personal passion for traveling the world and participating in adventure races.

Jason

Jason Brandow, CST, RT, PTA - Craniosacral Therapist

Jason began his education by attaining a 4 year Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from LSSU. This program gave him great insight into the functions of the body, the interrelationships between its systems, and how to design therapeutic programs to treat a wide variety of muscle and skeletal injuries and diseases. He then began the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy (CCO) in Toronto, adding another 5 years to his education and training. Because of the programs strong focus on the Craniosacral system, Jason is now able to work as a Craniosacral Therapist here at HBT. (And is currently completing his thesis to complete his Osteopathy designation.)

Jason has worked with people with head and neck related disorders like TMJ dysfunction, Migraine Headaches, Dizziness/Vertigo, Post Concussion Syndrome, Eye pain and Visual Dysfunctions, Severe Sinus Congestion, Memory and Focus problems, and even psychological disorders like Depression (event related and post-partum), Anxiety, and other mood related disorders.

Debbie

Debbie Hawke-Wende, B.A., RMT - Massage Therapist

Debbie Hawke-Wende is registered Massage Therapist, having graduated from ICT Kikkawa College in Toronto with an Honours diploma in Massage Therapy, and achieving her registration from the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) in 2001. She previously graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history and psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, and in 2003 she also obtained her certificate in personal training and exercise with CANFIT PRO Canada.

Debbie began her Massage Therapy career at a fitness center in Etobicoke, but shortly after, she moved her practice to a multi-disciplinary clinic in Oakville. The new facility provided a greater range of clients and conditions to treat, and invaluable exposure to various types of healthcare and alternative treatments. With her broad range of treatment experience and work with clients from infants to seniors, she brings this knowledge and focus to HBT. Debbie focuses initially on easing the client's immediate pain or discomfort, but then moves to the overall picture to find the cause and develop a solution - regaining balance.

Lisa

Lisa Katalia, RMT - Massage Therapist

Lisa Kataila is a Registered Massage Therapist with the CMTO. She graduated from the Canadian Therapeutic College Massage Therapy and Hydrotherapy program in 2004.

She has been practicing in clinical settings with chiropractors and physiotherapists and has gained much experience with MVA's and the treatments of many injuries and conditions. She has also traveled and worked overseas in New Zealand where she completed her Hot Stone Therapy course. There she taught and learned with therapists from around the world. Lisa believes in a holistic approach to healing and tries to incorporate all her experiences and knowledge into her treatments.

Rachel

Rachel Hughes, RMT - Massage Therapist

Rachel is a Registered Massage Therapist. She graduated with honours from The Canadian Therapeutic College in 2004, and is a member of the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario.

After graduating she had the opportunity to work in a luxury spa in the ski resort area of Vail, Colorado, as well as in a therapeutic environment in Oakville.She has experience with treating various muscular conditions. Her passion is using massage therapy to help clients eliminate stress and bring balance to their busy everyday lives. She has taken a post graduate course in pre-natal massage. She looks forward to continuing her education in other areas that would benefit her clients.

Damien

Damian Ford, RMT - Massage Therapist

Damian Ford is a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario. He graduated from Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington, and has been working at Healthy Balance Therapeutics since November 2008.

Damian truly believes in the healing capacity of massage therapy. He advises each of his clients to take an active role in their own recovery and educates them on how to do so. Whether the massage is a relaxation or therapeutic, Damian is very effective in meeting each client's needs using a professional and enthusiastic approach.

Nyla

Nyla Jiwani, BSc, ND - Naturopathic Doctor

Nyla Jiwani, BSc, ND, originally from Vancouver, BC has now settled in Oakville, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of British Columbia. She completed four years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine to successfully become a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.

Nyla is a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Canadian Naturopathic Association. Nyla has additional training in Intravenous (Parenteral) Therapy and provides this service within the clinic. She is also a certified Craniosacral Therapist. To remain current on new research in medicine, Nyla regularly attends conferences to continually improve the care she gives her patients.

In her daily life, Nyla strives for balance, abides by The Four Agreements, practices yoga and early morning meditation.

Tany

Tany Mitchell - Office Administrator

Tany has many years of experience in health care administration and client service. Her enthusiasm and friendly nature will be sure to greet you as you enter, and she will do her best to take care of any concerns that you may have. Tany is a well rounded knowledgeable office manager who helps run the facility like a well-oiled machine!

Kate

Katelyn Hinchey - Customer Service Specialist

Katelyn is a human resources student at Sheridan College and a customer service specialist here at HBT. She works to make the clients feel comfortable, and assists the Therapists with keeping their appointment running smoothly. Her cheerful disposition will greet you at the door.
